British American Tobacco UK has an exciting opportunity for a New Categories Operations Finance Manager in London. The role is responsible for providing financial support to New Categories (NC) Business that reach across different operations sub-functions as well as providing key support to the Senior NC Operations Finance (Heated Products/ HP). It supports global processes including Product Costing, Actual COGS analysis, Efficiency Savings, Capex and Opex management; deals straight with Procurement team, CP&A, NC Commercialization managers, NC R&D (Research & Development), Ops Finance Functions and NC Commercial Finance.

The role is part of the NC Operations Finance team that is based in the UK, as part of the Global Operations Finance Team. The NC business is operating in a dynamic environment, with key focus on quality growth for the overall category and significant investment in product development.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing support for the development of NC COS reporting and ensuring it is embedded within the business as usual processes and reporting.
  • Following-up on saving initiatives and participate on the HP Variable COGS Group, aligning implementation and accelerating the saving initiatives implementation interacting with Procurement, R&D and NC Commercial Finance.
  • Providing support to the Senior Operations Finance Manager on the global reporting process for Group Operations risk management (New Categories).
  • Interacting with a multifunctional group to produce BAU (Business as Usual) and NPI (New Product Innovation) COGS, analyzing actual COGS and ensuring it is accurately maintained in SAP; generating COGS Reports to support decision making process.
  • Providing support for the reporting and forecasting process for Global cost of sales & other financial dimensions.
  • Finance Management (Opex, Capex, Costs and WC Management): handling the forecasting and tracking of the main finance elements which sit with NC Costs.
  • Working closely with various departments to understand their financial needs and provide mentorship and advisory.
  • Assisting in supervising costs and identifying areas for efficiency improvements.
  • Acting as a liaison between finance and operational teams to align financial strategies with business objectives.
  • Providing financial insights for central initiatives.

What are we looking for?

  • Professional qualification (CA/ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a strong post-qualification experience in a global FMCG, Electronic industry or similar dynamic operating environment.
  • Experience in strategic analysis & planning and execution, performance measurements, project evaluation and commercial competence.
  • Ideally, experience of operations / supply chain, product costing, commercial finance.
  • Understanding and knowledge of relevant finance tools and systems, i.e. SAP/BPC.
  • Strong influencing, leadership and social skills.
  • Confirmed experience in business partnering non-financial collaborators.
  • Ability to simplify complex situations and synthesize, communicate and present complex information.
  • Insightful, comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty, pro-active, collaborative and consultative.
  • Independent, able to take their own decisions and take calculated risks.
  • Prepared to balance the speed to market challenge and the minimal level of governance needed to ensure decisions are tackled at the accurate level.
