Purpose of the Role
Join the Quality Planning team as a Technical Manager - Product Quality where you'll play a pivotal role supporting and collaborating with Design and Engineering to ensure quality best practice is embedded into our new designs. You will also partner across the VW Group Brands to explore new technologies. This exciting opportunity will be responsible for the Chassis and Powertrain Modules, ensuring quality requirements and the voice of our Customer is integrated into the design of the product from early concept stage through to SOP to ensure a flawless Customer experience.
Main Responsibilities:
- Establishing and maintaining effective communication with VW Group Brands for all aspects of Quality Planning for all new Platform and Model Year introductions.
- Leading the Department for the adoption of Systems Engineering and integration of Quality within the Requirements management tool (AVW).
- Advocating and implementing business process improvements.
- Acting as the technical product specialist within Quality Product Technology and Planning Team; influencing product design and concept decision making, detail understanding of quality critical and legislative requirements, understanding of module specific systems and parts, weak point identification and warranty risk analysis.
- Driving Corporate Product Requirements to improve the Customer experience and reduction of warranty issues.
- Being a Module team member for projects; influence relevant Quality functions to support Module activities and deliverables, support to resolve issues, co-ordinate, review and approve Bid Spec's, B-Release drawings, ECR's, AEKO's and Permits.
- Deputising for the Quality Project Leader where required within the Project.
About the Team
The Quality Planning team is part of the Quality - Product Technology and Planning function committed to 'Improve Customer experience and reduce warranty'. The whole team is involved in the complete product lifecycle from cradle to grave. The Quality Planning team is actively involved in the pre-concept phase of projects through concept, design, development and maturation to ensure the new products have incorporated the learning from previous products and new technology.
About you - Skills and Experience
- Demonstrable experience in automotive model development programmes at Bentley and the Product Emergence Process (PEP), or other automotive development processes.
- Working understanding of quality planning and an understanding of the fundamental principles of the delivery of quality requirements is desirable e.g Optical Quality, Design Reviews, Part Maturation process, concern management, etc.
- Demonstrable understanding of Customer requirements for automotive upper luxury sector.
- Working knowledge of virtual design process e.g DMU.
- A full driving license. A Bentley product driving licence would be advantageous.
