Locum Consultant Neurologist 393 Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust

This post is available on a fixed-term basis as maternity cover. There is some forthcoming re-organisation of the service which may lead to longer term opportunities to recruit substantively into the team.

The principal role of this post will be to support outpatient services, with some ward cover. There is opportunity for flexible working and for the post-holder to maintain interests outside the trust.

General Responsibilities as Consultant in Neurology

The following is not an exhaustive or exclusive list of the duties of a consultant. The appointee is expected to:

1. Deliver day-to-day clinical care and leadership in Neurology outpatient clinic.
2. Lead in ongoing development of clinical guidelines in Neurological medicine, audit, and other key aspects of the clinical governance agenda.
3. Work with consultant colleagues to ensure efficient use of Trust’s resources and contribute actively to clinical governance in the department and to development of quality enhancement projects in the unit.
4. Show flexibility and undertake different appropriate clinical tasks at the request of the clinical manager, as the need arises.
5. Actively participate in clinical guidelines development, audit, and CPD.

North Mid is part of North Central London integrated care system – consisting of the NHS and Local authority organisations in Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield, and Haringey. As with other ICS’s, we are working increasingly closely with partners and indeed many of our financial and performance objectives are measured at this system level. Whilst all organisations remain as standalone, statutory bodies we have an ICS infrastructure for making shared decisions and agreeing shared approaches.

From 1st January North Middlesex Hospital joined the Royal Free Group to form part of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will contribute towards management of inpatient referrals, outpatient clinics, and some virtual clinics to help manage the increasing demand for Neurology services at North Middlesex University Hospital.
