As a Production Support Engineer, you will provide first class support to the production users, maintaining and troubleshooting workstations and systems as required, with the aim of providing a stable and fully functioning production environment, either onsite or remotely. You will also be involved in the implementation of new production environments, from workstations to new studios within EMEA. You will play a key part in assessing new technologies to help optimise our end-to-end production workflow. The role will be required to work on a flexible rota, being available from 9am to 6pm weekdays, including telephone support and regular onsite support at weekends and for other out of hours production work, including any On Call / Rota system that is required.
Responsibilities
- Implementation of new production environments - support, maintain, administer and troubleshoot media production equipment and systems.
- Collaborate with the wider global production technology team to ensure working to global operational and security standards.
- Providing first and second line support to the suites.
- Document and update documentation on standard procedures.
- Complete project work as set by the Production Technology Manager or Lead Engineer.
- Provide support and cover for other Production Support Engineers.
- Testing applications on Mac OS, Windows and Linux to confirm they work as expected.
- Patching software against security vulnerabilities and documenting.
- Scripting pre or post installation scripts where necessary for packages.
- Working with System and JAMF Pro admins, to upload and set scope of deployment of packages to Windows and Mac OS systems.
Requirements
- General "can-do" service attitude, proactive, flexible approach and actively suggest new ideas.

- Excellent communication, problem solving and organisational skills.
- A flexible attitude to working out of hours when required.
- Able to adapt and keep abreast of changes in technology by investigating new systems, techniques and equipment, particularly Adobe technologies.
- Working knowledge of macOS, Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Good technical understanding of production workflows for print, digital, moving image, audio as well as colour pipeline, acquisition formats and technical standards.
- Good command line and scripting knowledge.
- Knowledge of plugins for above software applications, including but not limited to – Red Giant Complete, Redshift 3D, Arnold Renderer, Keentools Geotracker, NeatVideo, Boris FX Sapphire, Continuum and Mocha Pro, Insydium X-Particles, Chaos Group V-Ray.
- It would be great if you had some knowledge of any of the following (but it’s not a must!): Knowledge of applications and plugins used by Hogarth Production – Adobe Creative Suite, Maxon Cinema4D, The Foundry Nuke, Autodesk Maya, Mudbox and Flame, Side FX Houdini, Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve.
- Experience of Render farms (software and hardware) and render managers (Deadline etc).
- Experience of software deployment tools including Jamf Pro and Microsoft Intune.
