We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our integrated mental health team at HMP Askham Grange. HMP Askham Grange is an open category D female prison based in Askham Richard, near York, housing around 120 women. You will be joining an established and experienced team, supporting women aged 18 plus; the site also includes a mother and baby unit. This role has a low volume of patients requiring Psychiatrist support which will enable you to provide consistent and high quality patient care.

Hours: 1 day per month/8 hours to be worked between Monday-Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm

Salary: This position is a part time role, you'll receive an annual salary up to £[... Click Apply...] per annum FTE - depending on experience.

How will we support you?

  • You will be part of a team of 15 plus experienced and supportive Consultant psychiatrists.
  • You will be able to attend monthly Consultant's meetings and 1:1 clinical supervision.
  • Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training course.
  • Competency framework.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the case load onsite.
  • Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead the senior mental health clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision.
  • Work within the multi-disciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi professional complex case reviews.

Qualifications required:

  • Registered professional with current registration (GMC).
  • Specialist Registration in either General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry.
  • Approved under section 12 (2) of the MHS 1983.
  • Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working.
  • Up to date knowledge in adult psychiatry and PD.
  • Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation.
