We require a dedicated and enthusiastic herdsperson to be a key part of a modern and progressive 240-cow dairy unit situated halfway between Penrith and Carlisle and close to the M6 & A6 trunk roads. The farm enjoys excellent facilities and has invested over the years in buildings and infrastructure, with a layout and design to ensure that care of the highly respected pedigree herd is easily undertaken.

Cows are cubicle housed and milked twice per day achieving highly respectable results in terms of production, butterfat and protein levels. Working alongside the family, you will undertake milkings through the 20/20 Westfalia parlour, recently updated with the latest kit, herd health and welfare tasks, basic daily record keeping and general husbandry tasks. AI and foot trimming would be an advantage but training in the future would be an option.

A willingness to learn the herd, take on responsibility during your weekends on and a dedication to the animals is a must. The role would suit someone looking for their next steps towards herd management, looking to build on experience so far gained, and watching an excellent example of high genetic merit cows achieving their potential, through dedicated management to learn from.

In return for your effort we offer a competitive salary, regular time off, comprising of every other weekend, one day off per week and holidays, plus a 3-bedroom cottage, recently renovated, at the end of the farm lane.
