We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our infrastructures engineering team in the role of Senior Infrastructure Engineer, reporting directly to the Head of Infrastructure.

Provide senior-level technical engineering responsibility and accountability for design, creation, implementation, and maintenance across the infrastructure estate. This role serves as the technical engineering authority and the third-line escalation point within the Client business. It includes aspects of BAU, incident management, problem management, change management, and new service requests As part of the infrastructure team, you will be a key technical leader responsible for designing, implementing, and managing infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.

Additionally, you will collaborate with the Technology Architecture team on new infrastructure-related designs and take responsibility for the low-level design and implementation of infrastructure-related projects. Manage the ‘Engineer, Deploy, and Operate’ IS&O process on behalf of the business, including service, operations, and service transition as per the IS&O operating handbook. Provide technical knowledge to support the IS&O portfolio management function and business project requirements., * Design, configure, and implement infrastructure solutions to meet business needs, including Active Directory VMWare, Azure Entra ID, M365 applications and cloud environments.

  • Manage day-to-day infrastructure operations, including monitoring performance, diagnosing issues, and implementing solutions to ensure availability and reliability.

  • Identify, analyse, and resolve complex infrastructure-related problems, ensuring minimal downtime and impact on business operations.

  • Implement and maintain security posture, measures, including CIS policies, identity management protecting against unauthorized access.

  • Monitor and optimize performance and capacity, making recommendations for upgrades and enhancements to meet future demands.

  • Evaluate and work with hardware and software vendors to ensure optimal performance and cost-effectiveness of infrastructure equipment and services.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of architecture, configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting protocols.

  • Lead and participate in infrastructure upgrade projects, ensuring all changes are thoroughly tested, documented, and aligned with business requirements.

  • Act as third-line technical escalation point for incidents, problems, changes, and break/fix issues.

  • Define and produce required policies, standards, and guidelines for effective infrastructure management.

  • Support relationships with third parties, including monthly service reviews, performance management, and escalations.

  • Responsible for deployment planning, scheduling, control, installations, hardware and software life cycle management, upgrades, and end-of-life replacements of the technology stack.

  • Scope, cost, and provision third-party resources when additional resources are required for infrastructure deployment.

  • Report technology stack performance against key performance indicators and metrics in support of business management governance.

  • Maintain suitable technical skills to support the organization’s infrastructure technology stack and its customer base.

  • Participate in and support architecture designs, roadmaps, planning, and deployments.

  • Provide support and technical escalation to regional support staff as required.

  • Execute additional responsibilities and tasks as designated by IS&O management., * Specialist Skill – Acquires and develops the specialist and technical knowledge and skills to perform the role on an ongoing basis within the changing environment of the Bank.

  • Project Management – Develops and monitors courses of action (work plans) for themselves and others to ensure that work is completed in a controlled and efficient manner.

  • Knowledge Management – Uses, develops and implements systems and processes to capture, manage and distribute up to date, accurate and readily accessible knowledge and information across the business, to a wide range of stakeholders.

Knowledge, technical skills and expertise – Primary:

  • Advance Windows Active Directory/Azure Entra ID Administration

  • Windows Server 2016/2019/2022

  • VMWare, SRM and Aria monitoring

  • Exchange online administration

  • M365, Intune and Conditional Access design and administration

  • Azure technologies administration, landing zone creation and management.

  • NetApp, EMC and other storage solutions

  • NetBackup backup solution

  • CIS Configuration Benchmarks

  • Advance PowerShell Scripting Ansible or Terraform

  • Senior infrastructure engineering, Identity Management and System Engineering

  • Active Directory, Entra ID, Exchange Online, M365 Administration

  • VMWare and Storage experience

  • Vendor management experience

  • Project Management, * Understanding of networking concepts

  • Experience with Linux base operating systems

  • Experience Azure Kubernetes Service

  • Experience with Ansible or Terraform

  • Python or Terraform knowledge
