Remarkable people, trusted by clients to design and advance the world. Wood are recruiting for a Finance Manager to join our EMEA Regional Finance team as part of the Consulting business unit. The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of accounting across the UK and Ireland business units for Consulting. This position can be based from any of our UK or Irish offices on a hybrid basis.

The Role

As a key member of the EMEA Regional Finance Consulting Team, this role is pivotal in driving excellence in project accounting, financial reporting and governance across the region. The Finance Manager will be a strategic business partner fostering collaboration with operational leaders to deliver insightful financial analysis and performance insight. This involves the provision of timely reporting of financial data internally to business stakeholders and externally. Furthermore, financial reporting will extend to forecasts, budgets and a "no surprises" outlook, together with ad-hoc financial analysis. As the Finance Manager you will manage a team and be responsible for their development and workload management. You will also be the escalation point for all financial matters relating to the UK and Ireland consulting business, ensuring your team are fully supported and empowered at all times. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Finance professional, with excellent communication, business partnering and leadership skills to take on a critical role that will directly support the UK & Ireland service lines in achieving their financial targets.

Responsibilities

  • Full responsibility for all financial matters including accurate and timely completion of monthly reporting, optimising financial performance.
  • Report business / country / region financial performance to senior management including variance analysis, accounts receivables, DSO, accruals and unbilled analysis.
  • Ownership for annual budget, forecasts and rolling forecasts in conjunction with senior management, including validation / challenge over backlog, inputs from BD and operations.
  • Ensure forecasting accuracy and predictability through the rolling forecast v monthly actual result process.
  • Responsible for driving sustainable working capital improvements and/or maintaining performance working with operational management, project managers, supply chain and other relevant areas to optimise cash collection and minimise DSO, including customer relationships and reporting.
  • Management of business / country / service line finance team including recruitment, staff development, performance management and the setting of objectives.
  • Ownership of implementation and financial adherence with the finance operating model.
  • Ensure that an effective control environment exists through compliance with all Group control frameworks, policies and procedures as applicable.
  • Lead engagement with external, internal and client auditors to support successful completion of audits.
  • Engagement with commercial teams on the pre-award phase in terms of bids, rates, and relevant analysis and a key contact and team participant for such, including input to financial terms contained in contracts and bids where appropriate.

  • Further education through college or university with a recognised accounting qualification.
  • Qualified CIMA / ACCA / CPA or equivalent.
  • Significant proven relevant accounting / commercial experience.
  • Track record in people management, previous experience of managing and developing teams.
  • Relevant system knowledge - ERP (Oracle Orbis and EPM).
  • Experienced in effective business partnering and stakeholder management.
