Tai Tarian is the social landlord for over 9,000 properties across Neath Port Talbot. We are looking for motivated people who want to be part of a team who pride themselves on delivering excellence. We are currently looking for a Financial Controller who will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of a company's financial operations, ensuring the accurate and timely presentation of monthly management accounts, the annual budget and mid-year forecast, and accurately forecasting the end of year financial performance as the year progresses. This role is permanent with a starting salary of £55,835.

This role will lead the management accounts and business partnering teams, using financial expertise, deep business knowledge, and great communication and influencing skills to provide the strategic financial insights that enable and support the Executive and Senior Management Teams.

Criteria for the role:

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA/ACCA)
  • Degree Level Qualification (2:1)
  • Experience managing complex problems and the ability to dissect them into actionable components.
  • Experience in complex project management, requiring cross-functional coordination for effective and timely delivery of outcomes.
  • Experience using technical expertise in a business partnering/consultative role where actions and influencing are required to achieve optimal results.
  • Experience operating in an environment where data drives unbiased recommendations and decisions.

About the role:

This postholder will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, standards, and compliance requirements. Some duties of the Financial Controller include:

  • Monitoring income and expenditure to ensure that the business activities remain affordable in the short term (in-year budgets) and long term (5 & 30 year business plans).
  • Implementing and maintaining robust internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Supervising the management accounting and business partnering teams to ensure accounting records are kept up to date and stakeholder reporting requirements are met.
  • Preparing and presenting accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements to SMT and onward to the Board, Welsh Government, and Funders.
