The Medical Education Department at Prince Philip Hospital are looking to recruit a Clinical Skills Co-ordinator, on a fixed term 12 month basis. The exciting role is to provide technical support for clinical skills and simulation teaching for medical and physician associate students and medical staff at various levels in their training. The post also requires supporting student and junior doctor induction, general support in the department, some administrative tasks and working with colleagues on other sites.

The applicant should demonstrate they work well within a team, with experience of working in a clinical environment an advantage. Excellent communication skills and a knowledge of administrative procedures and excellent technology and digital IT skills are also required. Training on the set up and maintenance of skills and simulation equipment will be given.

The hours are full time and requires some flexibility. Less than full time working would be considered.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the role include:-

  • Co-ordinating the clinical skills and simulation teaching and learning for students, trainees and work experience students

  • Prepare the learning environment

  • Create certificates for attendance and presentation

  • Liaise with key stakeholders such as clinical teams and universities

  • Obtain feedback from service users to inform future provision with a view to continual improvements

  • Be a team player and work with other medical education centre staff to ensure the general smooth running of the centre

Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest.

Five community hospitals: Amman Valley Hospital and Llandovery Hospital in Carmarthenshire, Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire.

Two integrated care centres (Aberaeron and Cardigan, Ceredigion).

Community facilities, including:

48 General Practices (GP surgeries), 49 Dental Practices, 98 Community Pharmacies (chemists), 44 General Ophthalmic Practices (including eye health and low vision services), 38 sites providing mental health and learning disability services, care within your own homes

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
