The leading consultancy firm is looking for a skilled Checkpoint Firewall Support Engineer to join the team for an initial 6-month contract with strong potential for extension. This position offers an on-site working arrangement, with 5 days per week based in Heathrow.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and support Checkpoint firewalls, ensuring the security, availability, and optimal performance of the organization’s critical network infrastructure.
- Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot Firewall issues, proactively identifying potential threats or vulnerabilities and implementing effective resolutions.
- Maintain and optimize Firewall policies and rule sets, ensuring compliance with industry best practices and internal security standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional IT and security teams to support network changes, upgrades, and integrations, ensuring seamless and secure connectivity.
- Document configurations, policies, and change management processes, providing clear technical guidance and maintaining an audit-ready environment.
- Support LAN/WAN network infrastructure, including routing, switching, and overall network performance, ensuring a secure and stable enterprise environment.
- Gain exposure to Juniper networking technologies, assisting with configuration and troubleshooting in a multi-vendor environment.
Skills/Must have:
- Proven experience in Checkpoint Firewall administration, including troubleshooting, policy management, and optimization.
- Strong understanding of network security principles, including Firewall rules, VPNs, intrusion prevention, and threat mitigation.
- Hands-on experience with LAN/WAN networking, including routing, switching, VLANs, and network protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
- Exposure to Juniper networking technologies (firewalls, switches, or routers) is highly desirable.
- Experience working in enterprise-scale environments, ideally within highly regulated industries such as aviation, finance, or telecoms.
- Relevant certifications such as Checkpoint CCSA/CCSE, Juniper JNCIA/JNCIS, or Cisco CCNA/CCNP are advantageous.
