Your role:
- As an application DBA, work as part of a team to manage existing and implement improvements to the application database estate.
- Conform to ITIL best practice ensuring all requirements and checks are completed before making any change, ensuring documentation is developed and maintained.
- Promote DBA services both internally and with the client, ensuring a positive image and desire to engage and work together.
- Engage with client projects and initiatives to plan, design, and implement the database systems with the view to support after transition to live.
- Work with client and 3rd parties to support, implement, and upgrade applications.
- Proactively manage risks and issues with both the operational and project teams in conjunction with the APM manager.
Your skills and experience:
- Needs to have experience in working as an application DBA in a government environment and hold a current DV clearance.
- Technologies needed include SQL (i.e. T/SQL, PLSQL and others), SQLServer, MariaDB, Oracle, and client requirements such as Disaster Recovery and Business continuity approaches and experience driving and implementing transformation and service improvements.
- The role requires an ongoing interest in a broad range of database technologies, operating systems, implementation methodologies, and the ability to understand what's being done and why.
- An inquisitive approach and attention to detail are required to ensure actions are correct, auditable, and documented.
- Should have a background in live service and experience developing and maintaining documentation and developing new approaches to problems.
- Flexibility is also required as some out of hours support is necessary at the start and end of each day (07:00 – 09:00 and 17:30 to 19:00).

- Must have a broad range focusing on Database Administration and implementation, covering MySQL, PLSQL, MariaDB, Oracle.
- Query optimization, DB design, and implementation.
- DT, data recovery, and business continuity approaches.
Your Security Clearance:
To be successfully appointed to this role, it is a requirement to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) clearance. To obtain DV clearance, the successful applicant must have resided continuously within the United Kingdom for the last 10 years, along with other very detailed criteria and requirements.
Throughout the recruitment process, you will be asked questions about your security clearance eligibility such as, but not limited to, country of residence and nationality. Some posts are restricted to sole UK Nationals for security reasons; therefore, you may be asked about your citizenship in the application process.
