The Infrastructure Team Lead is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and management of secure, high-performance infrastructure to support mission-critical software development in the defence sector. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, autonomy, and leadership, ensuring the reliability and security of systems. The Infrastructure Team Lead performs diverse complex activities, supports and supervises others, works autonomously under general direction, and contributes expertise to deliver team objectives.

  • Develop and enhance workflows, procedures, and documentation to optimise the ICT environment delivery and availability.

  • Plan, schedule, and oversee Project and BAU work to achieve quality objectives while balancing complexity and trade-offs.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies, drive knowledge sharing, and contribute to ongoing improvements.

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • Architecture & Security: Proven expertise in designing and managing secure, scalable, and high-performance network infrastructure, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Systems Management: Proven experience implementing and administering various Compute, Storage, Backup and Monitoring systems to deliver seamless operations for the business.
  • Automation & Systems Management: Sound skills in automation (Ansible, Python, PowerShell) for efficient infrastructure and monitoring, along with experience managing Linux and virtualized environments (VMware, vSphere, NSX).
  • Change & Risk Management: Ability to lead change control processes, ensuring all infrastructure modifications deliver value, secure, documented, and compliant with industry standards.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Extensive verbal and written communication skills to document processes, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and support high-security environments.

To be considered, candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field, such as Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or relevant industry experience.
  • Ideally have supporting certifications: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), VMware Certified Professional (VCP).

Security Clearance: Applicants are required to be Australian Citizens and be eligible to hold and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
