Wise May are looking for a Financial Accountant to join a personable and progressive law firm based in the City. This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative organisation who reward hard work and will support your professional development and career progression.
As a Financial Accountant you will work in an ambitious and supportive Finance Team, playing a crucial role in the financial and management reporting of the business, with opportunity to become involved in management accounting, month-end and year-end system close down, VAT Return preparation, financial reporting and implementing new systems, policies and procedures.
Financial Accountant duties and responsibilities:
- Preparation of the monthly management accounts.
- Calculation and posting of standard month end accounting journals.
- Reconciliation of balance sheet codes to supporting documentation.
- Assisting in the month-end and year-end system close down procedure (including running month end reports) to ensure a prompt turnaround.
- Maintenance of the fixed asset register and calculation and posting of depreciation journals.
- Preparation of the organisation's financial KPIs.
- VAT return preparation.
- Preparation of ad-hoc reports on financial performance as required by the Financial Controller.
- Completion of legal and regulatory surveys.
- System improvements and updates to financial policies and procedures.
Financial Accountant key competencies and skills required:
- Qualified Accountant with demonstrable experience working as a Financial Accountant within the legal, financial services or professional services sector.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Team orientated with the ability to effectively build and maintain working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Proactive and detail orientated individual with the ability to work well under pressure and organise your own work without supervision.
