A little more about your role… We are seeking an Associate to be based out of our Glasgow or Edinburgh office who can:

  • Support our Regional lead for the North, along with the wider Liveable Places team and WSP with leadership & business development
  • Work directly with our clients to achieve their sustainable transport needs
  • Act as Project Director or Project Manager on a wide range of projects whilst helping to grow and develop our work with clients
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practice
  • Oversee projects budget and financial performance
  • Undertake technical preparation, review and checking of deliverables within the team
  • Work collaboratively with the Liveable Places team and our colleagues in the wider Mobility team and the wider WSP business to achieve our aims and objectives

YOUR TEAM Liveable Places work with a wide range of local authority & private clients from across the UK to help them achieve their place making ambitions. We deliver a wide range of schemes from concept to delivery that include public realm, traffic engineering, road safety, traffic signals, pedestrian / traffic modelling, active travel, and parking. We have had recent key successes with Tees Valley Combined Authority, Leeds City Council, City of York Council, Liverpool City Council, North Tyneside Council, TfGM, Bury Council, Westmorland and Furness Council, West of England Combined Authorities, National Highways and many, many more. The Liveable Places team is based in offices across the country with over 200 staff, currently making up the team with further growth planned. We enjoy our work and are exceptionally enthusiastic people who are great at what we do. This is an excellent opportunity for you to develop in your career through exposure to a wide variety of experiences. We have a strong track record working closely with our clients and this role provides a great opportunity to have a pivotal role within Liveable Places and help support and steer its growth going forward.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

  • A civil engineering degree, transport planning degree or equivalent
  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional body (desirable)
  • Knowledge of current Scotland transport policy
  • A proven ability to win public sector work and can support our growing offer in Scotland
  • Proven ability to lead and manage project teams and individuals
  • Proven track record in project management and financial control
  • Passion for mentoring and developing talent
  • Transport, road safety, parking and highway engineering experience
  • Good spoken and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise with others including public sector officials, members of the public and other senior colleagues
