The Role: We are looking to recruit Trainee Patent Attorneys to join our friendly teams in our Birmingham, Liverpool, and London offices. If successful, you will join Forresters’ thriving Technology & Engineering group and will train in handling all aspects of patent and design work. You will assist in protecting inventions across a wide variety of subject areas, which may include mechanical, electronics, software, and cleantech-related technologies. On-the-job training will be given by partners and other fully qualified senior attorneys, as well as through external training courses, in order for you to become a fully-qualified UK and European Patent Attorney. About you: You must have a 2:1 degree or above in a science or engineering discipline. Degrees typically considered suitable for the role are physics, mechanical engineering, materials science or computer science, for example. Candidates with degrees in chemistry or life sciences, only, are unlikely to be suited to the available roles. You must be capable of working both independently and as part of a team, have organisational skills and excellent oral and written communication skills. You must possess a commitment to quality and attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Start date: Autumn 2025, interviews will take place in January 2025.
