A specialist Food Manufacturer is currently seeking a qualified leader to head up their global food safety and quality strategy for their specialist food products. Reporting to the Global Head of Manufacturing operations, the Quality Leader will have 3 direct reports with a team of 14 across QC, Labs, and QMS. Aside from a complex portfolio of nutritional food products, the Quality Leader will also be responsible for managing the external relationships with their contract manufacturing partners, ensuring all quality and food safety standards are met and prioritized.

Responsibilities include:

  • Define and lead on the Quality Strategy including mid to long term planning.
  • Establish the annual Quality objectives based on the yearly operational master planning cycle.
  • Lead and monitor progress against strategic and operational plans establishing relevant, tracked and reportable KPIs.
  • Control the annual budget for all activities relating to Quality Assurance and identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize tasks to deliver budget benefits.
  • Oversee the maintenance and development of the QMS ensuring compliance to all required Quality standards.
  • Ensure the monitoring of key quality parameters in order to drive structured root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Manage the internal and external audit programs.
  • Ensure preparedness for crisis and incident management of Quality related issues.
  • Provide support and technical expertise to the business and leadership in Quality related incidents.
  • Lead member of the crisis committee for all product-related incidents ensuring follow-up, compliance, and corrective actions.
  • Lead in post-incident analysis to share learnings and drive improvements.

The successful Quality & Food Safety leader will ideally be educated to degree level in a food science or related subject and have extensive knowledge in a food manufacturing environment and across multiple categories including high care and ideally thermal processing / aseptic processes.
