My client is looking for a Financial Controller to work full time in their Mayfair, London offices.

As Financial Controller, you would take ownership of financial control and reporting, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and strategic insight across the bank. This includes managing the preparation of financial results, regulatory reporting, and financial statements, as well as working closely with the Treasury team on ALCO reporting. Given the bank’s recent acquisition, there will also be opportunities to enhance financial processes, integrate reporting frameworks, and ensure smooth alignment across the group.

Key highlights of the role:

  • Ownership of financial control – ensuring precision and compliance in reporting and financial statements.
  • Strategic involvement – working closely with senior stakeholders on critical financial decisions as well as the strategy for absorption of the BTL loan book from third party.
  • Integration and transformation – supporting the bank through the acquisition transition, aligning financial structures, and driving efficiency.
  • Leadership – guiding and mentoring a team while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and regulatory bodies.

Key responsibilities as a member of Bank’s management team:

  • Develop and nurture relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, regulatory bodies, and financial institutions.
  • Provide guidance on upcoming technical accounting standards.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, assign work, and delegate tasks effectively.

Mandatory Key Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years experience in a FC role.
  • Currently or very recently worked for a bank.
  • Demonstrable experience of running a team that produces month / year ends and financial statements.
  • Demonstrable experience of hedge accounting, revenue recognition and / or loan loss provisioning.
  • Strong technical accounting skills, with an ability to interpret and apply accounting principles and regulations.
  • Relevant experience gained from working with similar financial services organisations.
  • Experience in leading the month-end close process and preparing financial statements.
