The Role
We are looking for a passionate, forward thinking equine veterinary surgeon to lead our friendly team at our Kingswells practice in Aberdeen and join our team as a Clinical Director/ Clinical Lead Vet. With a diverse workload, we see family ponies, high level competition horses, and everything in between. The role covers a wide range of clinical duties including, but not limited to:
- Thorough physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations
- Developing and implementing comprehensive treatment plans for horses with a variety of conditions
- Lameness work up
- Routine procedures such as vaccinations, dental care, and ambulatory calls
- Emergency and after-hours care as needed
We also accept orthopaedic, surgical, and medical referrals from local practices. You will have dedicated time for your management responsibilities and be involved in all aspects of business planning working alongside your Area Director, Area Support Manager and other Clinical Directors in practice to help grow the business.
Rota
We are open to full-time or part-time hours with flexible patterns to fit your lifestyle. We currently work a 1:8 OOH rota, with a half day after a weeknight and a Friday off after a weekend on-call. We have purpose-built premises including 7 stables, trot ups, a sand school, a treatment room, stocks, a knockdown box, and a theatre. We have an excellent range of modern equipment, including portable DR radiography, ultrasound, shockwave, lasers, and video endoscope/gastroscope.
Collaboration is key and our friendly team of 7 equine vets, 2 equine nursing assistants, our newly qualified Equine RVN and 4 office staff offers the support needed to grow and learn. We like to try new things and have regular team meetings where we encourage you to share your ideas. We are a diverse team including certificate holders who can support you with your cases. We also benefit from visiting services including an advanced practitioner in Dentistry and a Specialist surgeon on a regular basis.
