This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join our vibrant, fast paced People Team as the Payroll Advisor. Working within the People Team, the Payroll Advisor will be responsible for proactively contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of the payroll department through payroll processing to ensure colleagues are paid accurately and on time.
What does the role involve?
- Ensure data entry is processed accurately throughout the month/year to meet agreed deadlines such as monthly pay runs and year end accounts, including all starters, leavers, changes and relevant deductions for the payroll.
- Coach, support and mentor payroll colleagues.
- Cross check colleague payroll input and calculations in line with Audit requirements.
- Manual calculation of PAYE & NIC.
- Input and process relevant additional benefit schemes in place such as childcare vouchers.
- Run Payroll, process Bank Files and Post-Payroll Processes in the absence of the Payroll Manager.
- Recall salary BACS payments as instructed by Senior Leaders.
- Process employee expenses in line with agreed timescales and policy.
- Respond to enquiries received in person, by telephone or by email, ensuring enquiries are resolved in a positive and timely manner, providing excellent customer service and support to all colleagues.
- Maintain up to date and appropriate knowledge, skills and competencies to ensure continuing satisfactory levels of work performance.
- Maintain accurate records on colleague files.
- Undertake as required, other duties in keeping with the general nature of the position.
- Any other ad hoc payroll admin tasks as required.
Who are we looking for?
- Demonstrates a track record of successfully processing payrolls to tight timescales within a similar role.
- Working knowledge of Auto Enrolment.
- Comprehensive current experience of legislative reporting, including all HMRC submissions, P60s, and P11Ds, Payrolling Benefits etc.
- Experience of Year End Procedures.
- Experienced in PAYE, NIC and statutory payments and deductions including SSP, SMP, SPP.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to challenge and recognise discrepancies.
- Illustrates the ability to effectively contribute in a team environment and be curious to the why/what/where.
- Ideally CIPP qualified or working towards.
