Geary's Bakeries has continued to grow resulting in the opening of a third, additional manufacturing plant. We are now seeking a Financial Controller to support the finance function.
The main responsibilities include:
- Manage day to day running of all accounting functions including Cash, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Stock, Payroll, VAT, Accruals, and Prepayments.
- Implement new, efficient, and effective processes for the recording of transactional data into primary business systems reducing the reliance on offline Excel documents and data entry duplication.
- Prepare and publish timely, reliable, and insightful financial information with comparisons to budget and prior year.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget, cashflow, and any other financial information.
- Manage, train, and develop transactional team members, ensuring an adequate control environment exists over all financial transactions.
- Liaise with external parties such as Bank, HMRC, Auditors and any other external parties where required.

Key Essential Criteria:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
- An understanding of cost accounting principles.
- Excellent IT skills, particularly Excel.
- Experience within the manufacturing industry or other fast paced business environments.
- Analytical and inquisitive mind-set, who shows desire to understand performance.
- Solutions-focused mind.
- Great communication skills.
Desirable but not essential:
- Knowledge of Sage200 would be advantageous.
- Food industry experience - Prior team management experience would be advantageous.
