At White Rose and Wold Farms Ltd, subsidiaries of Cranswick PLC, we are a leading player in the UK's agricultural sector, specialising in pig farming. We are dedicated to integrating traditional farming practices with modern, sustainable methods. Due to business expansion, an exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Farms HSE Manager to help drive our business strategy forward.
Based at Hessle but with a requirement to travel to farm locations on a regular basis, the role is responsible for ensuring the safety of our employees, delivering HSE policies and strategies and leading the HSE team to promote a strong safety culture for our farms.
Main duties include:
- Policy Development & Compliance: ensuring compliance with relevant HSE legislation and agriculture specific regulations and permits and ensuring the Farm HSE legal register is maintained.
- Risk Management & Incident Prevention: identifying workplace hazards and implementing risk mitigation strategies, conducting risk assessments for all farm operations, leading and advising on accident investigations, ensuring systems are in place for the safe storage and handling of hazardous substances and farm chemicals and identifying environmental aspects and impacts across the farms.
- Training & Development: identifying relevant farm based HSE training and keeping managers and employees informed of legislative changes and best safety practices.
- Safety Culture & Communication: acting as the key point of contact for all health and safety-related concerns, conducting regular safety briefings and advising managers and employees to ensure the farms comply with statutory requirements and guidelines.
- KPI Reporting: tracking incident rates, near misses, compliance audit results, energy performance and carbon footprint performance, ensuring all farm vehicles, machinery, and PPE comply with safety regulations and standards.
- LOLER & PUWER Compliance: working with farm teams to ensure all lifting activities are carried out safely and meet regulatory requirements, ensuring that PUWER assessments are completed.
- HSE Audits & Surveys: conducting regular health, safety and environmental audits across all farm locations, collaborating with farm managers and employees to promote best practices in workplace safety and environmental performance/compliance, collaborating with the senior leadership team to drive continuous improvement and develop long-term health and safety plans to enhance the safety culture across our farming operations.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- NEBOSH/NVQ Level 3 or higher in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a health and safety role.
- Knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation relevant to farming and agricultural operations.
- Experience of conducting risk assessments and accident investigations.
