Our Client is one of the leading contractors in the UK and they are working for one of the Council in the Southern Counties. This will cover Adult Care and/or School sites in Hampshire. Ideally, we would like to get this moving forward from mid-March.

Role Responsibilities

  • Represent Property Services and project teams at site level inspecting construction projects undertaken by Hampshire County Council.
  • Undertake regular and targeted inspections across construction projects, providing assurance for compliance with design, regulation and best practice.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records of checks and inspections to enable evidencing of compliance, quality, progress, and performance.
  • Support a robust culture of CDM compliance by monitoring and recording contractors' health and safety performance in relation to Hampshire County Councils responsibilities as Client, Principal Designer and Designer.
  • Identify and provide relevant feedback to enable continual improvement in relation to technical standards, quality, and compliance.
  • Mentor and assist less experienced staff to develop their technical knowledge.

Person Specification - Essential Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience and working knowledge of the construction industry particularly at site level.
  • Excellent working knowledge of construction related regulations.
  • Relevant experience, and ability to demonstrate the effective inspection of building construction works across a varied range of building types including traditional and modern methods of construction.
  • Self-motivated and able to use own initiative, as well as work in a team environment/be a team player.
  • Trade apprenticeship, HNC/HND, or equivalent/higher, in construction related occupation, in a building/construction related subject.
  • Ability to work highly effectively in a collaborative environment with both internal staff and external parties.
  • Able to communicate effectively with project teams and contractors to deliver the site inspection role.
  • Able to influence and make sound judgements on varied and sometimes complex construction problems on site.
  • IT - Ability to use digital systems to maintain accurate records, filing and sharing information - training on HCC systems will be provided.
  • A strong desire for ongoing learning with an inquisitive nature.
  • Demonstrable commitment to HCC one organisation cultural and its values.

Desirable Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Membership of relevant professional institute - for instance MICW, RICS, CIOB.
  • Understanding of Public Sector Environment and Public Value and challenges faced by the Sector.

Working Conditions

  • This role is designated as a Patch Worker - Hampshire and/or other partner locations being designated as the patch.
  • No specific office location but a hybrid working arrangement consisting of office, home and site working to suit operational requirements.
  • On occasion some visits will be required to Property Services office in Winchester.
  • You will be required to travel to various locations within Hampshire [and possibly the Isle of Wight or other local authority], and it is essential that you have a current drivers' licence and access to a private reliable suitably insured vehicle on a regular basis.
  • Regular outside working at all times of the year.
  • Use of ladders, and other access and inspection equipment provided by others.
  • Moving and Handling: Objects up to 5kg (less than daily basis).
  • Display Screen Equipment Use.
