Caretake Annual Salary: £27,269 – £28,624 Location: Belfast Job Type: Full-time, Permanent We are seeking a dedicated Caretaker to join our team. This role requires a responsible individual who can manage a variety of tasks to ensure the safety, security, and maintenance of our facilities. The position involves working in shifts, including early and late hours, and offers a competitive salary within the NJC Scale. Day-to-day of the role: Security Management: Handle locking/unlocking of premises, monitor security systems like CCTV and alarms, and attend to security breaches or vandalism. Porterage Duties: Manage the delivery and distribution of mail, parcels, and other supplies within the school. Assist in setting up and clearing spaces for school events. Driving Responsibilities: Operate school vehicles for transporting pupils and goods as needed (appropriate licence required). Maintenance Tasks: Conduct routine checks and minor repairs on school premises, furniture, and fixtures to ensure they are safe and usable. Grounds Maintenance: Maintain school grounds, including setting up sports equipment, gardening, and ensuring cleanliness and safety of outdoor areas. General Duties: Provide support for school events, including traffic direction and pedestrian crossing management. Required Skills & Qualifications: Experience in a caretaking or similar role, preferably within an educational setting. Ability to perform physical tasks and handle various maintenance equipment. Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Familiarity with health and safety regulations and child protection policies. Willingness to work flexible hours and shifts, including occasional overtime and on-call duties. Benefits: Competitive salary on the NJC Scale, points 11 to 14. Shift-based work with overtime pay at 1.5 times the normal rate. Additional allowance for on-call duties. Annual leave of 23 days, increasing after 5 years, plus public holidays and additional school closure days. Opportunities for training and professional development.
