We’re looking for a Retail Team Member to welcome visitors to the National Trust shop at Kedleston to answer their questions and help them make the most of their day.

Salary: £12.25 per hour

Contract: Permanent

Hours: We’re offering 4 hours a week across all days including Bank Holidays, Saturday and Sunday.

For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.

What it’s like to work here: We are a team of 6 who all work part time covering all days including Bank holidays, Saturdays and Sundays. We work on a rota and some lone working is required so self-motivation is essential. You’ll be part of a busy and friendly team based at Kedleston. Kedleston is a beautiful place to work and we support the many programming activities on site with pop-up shops including theatre nights and cinema events. The hall is decorated for Diwali as well as Christmas and the shop is very busy during this time.

What you’ll be doing: As a member of the retail team, you’ll be offering visitors help and advice with their shopping. You’ll have high standards of presentation in the shop while providing excellent service to all customers. You’ll also be able to talk to them about how everything they buy helps to fund the work of the National Trust. Other duties may include arranging, receiving and unpacking deliveries, creating shop displays and working with others in the team to keep the shop floor clean and organised.

Who we’re looking for: We’d love to hear from you if you’re:

  • focused on giving great service to everyone you meet
  • a team player, but also happy to work on your own initiative
  • well-organised and adaptable
  • willing to learn new skills.

The package: The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart. We’re working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It’s important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve. We welcome and value difference, so when we say we’re for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.

  • EV car lease scheme
  • Perks at work discounts such as gym memberships, shopping discount codes, cinema discounts
  • Holiday allowance up to 32 days relating to length of service, plus holiday purchase scheme, subject to meeting minimum criteria.
