The Operations Manager accomplishes department objectives and day-to-day tasks by supervising staff, organizing and monitoring work processes.
Location: M90 5UX, Manchester Airport
Shift Pattern: Mon - Fri, 50 hours per week
Hours: 08.00 - 18:00 (may slightly vary)
Main Duties:
- Ensure that the team have planned and managed all vehicles operating from effectively and profitably.
- Day-to-day supervision of the drivers and the office team.
- Be prepared to step in and cover resourcing issues/gaps as and when required.
- Ensure the team are updating and progressing accordingly.
- Ensure that the jobs allocated to drivers are done so meeting the requirements of the Working Time Directive/driver hours regulation.
- Be one of the main points of contact for staff during the shift.
- Ensure that all jobs are priced and closed off & invoiced when completed.
- Liaise with Drivers and Customers in relation to delays and possible issues.
- Update any relevant spreadsheets to reflect the service standards for our customers.
- Answer telephone calls and deal with requests being made from internal and external customers.
- Provide strong leadership, direction and mentoring, thereby fostering and sustaining co-operation and team spirit.
- Monitor Sub Contractors and agencies to ensure that they efficiently and effectively provide needed services while staying within budgetary limits.
- Oversee all areas ensuring daily tasks are complete.
A high level of Customer Care and a strong administrative background is required.
Skills and Attributes:
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, and a fantastic telephone manner are essential.
- Attention to detail with good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload.
- Experience gained within a similar role desirable.
- This position requires excellent IT skills with an ability to learn new procedures.
- Implementing new procedures and at times writing them.
- Positive attitude.
- Great people skills and management skills, with the ability to influence others.
- The ability to multi-task and to task manage and prioritise workloads to reflect the requirements of the day.
