We are seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to lead and enhance environmental performance across our projects in London and the southern region. This role, based in either our Watford or London offices, offers the opportunity to drive sustainability initiatives and reduce the environmental impact of key infrastructure and energy projects.
About the Role:
As Environmental Manager, you will play a critical role in embedding best practices, ensuring compliance, and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility. You will work across diverse projects, including highway schemes, urban realm developments, and energy sector initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with BS EN ISO 14001 and other environmental standards.
- Oversee environmental monitoring (e.g., water, dust, noise, waste) and interpret data to drive improvements.
- Conduct site inspections, reporting good practices and areas for improvement.
- Manage and implement the Project Environmental Management System, conducting audits and checks.
- Report and investigate environmental incidents, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
- Prepare monthly environmental performance reports and contribute to company/client reporting systems.
- Develop and implement mitigation measures to manage environmental risks effectively.
- Maintain and update the Project Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and associated documentation.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to support collaborative working.
About You:
Extensive experience in environmental management within civil engineering, consultancy, or specialist environmental contracting. Strong understanding of environmental design, risk mitigation, and stakeholder impact. IEMA membership with progress toward chartered status is desirable.
