As a Senior Grid Manager, you will play a critical role managing the grid process end to end for existing and new projects in the UK. You will be responsible for leading grid-related activities, engaging and managing the relationship with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and National Grid, managing grid applications, and securing optimal grid connection solutions for our portfolio of solar, wind, and battery storage projects. You will work closely with the development, engineering, and commercial teams to ensure grid integration strategies align with company objectives.
- Lead grid connection strategy and management for renewable energy projects, from feasibility through to energisation.
- Prepare and submit grid applications, ensuring compliance with regulatory and technical requirements.
- Review and interpret grid connection offers, providing commercial and technical input to optimise project viability.
- Work with engineering teams by providing initial designs for the connection facilities and facilitate grid requirements and/or criteria to be supplied into project planning packages.
- Monitor, report to the directors and manage/update grid connection costs, risks.
- Based on the grid offers, initiate grid connection time schedule for projects under development to ensure successful project delivery.
Strong communication and relationship management skills are essential, along with excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Requirements:
- Degree in Electrical and/or Power Engineering.
- Total of 10 to 12 years of experience in the power industry, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in grid connection management within the renewables sector.
- Extensive knowledge of the UK grid connection processes for transmission and distribution networks, UK based grid connections and operations.
- Demonstrable experience in securing and connecting projects with DNOs or TSOs by means of demonstratable two renewables-based projects being successfully connected.
- Strong understanding of the UK Grid Code, connection agreements, and system planning procedures.
- Proficiency in grid-related software and modelling tools (essentially DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
- Conversant in CDM regulations.
- UK Driver’s License (desirable).
