Job Description

Summary

Working with the Volunteering & Community Officer , you’ll support daily harbour operations and the organisation of volunteering.  

This role is all about connecting with people; helping everyone feel welcome and involved at Mullion Cove. Working with volunteers and local communities, you’ll be making a vital contribution to the Trust’s cause of caring for places so that people and nature can thrive – now and into the future.

Hours: We are looking for someone to help us during the school holidays for 4 days a week, including one weekend day. This is a fixed term role offering up to 220 hours 

Duration: Fixed term until 6th Sept

Salary: £12.75 an hour

Interview date: 10th April 2025

What it's like to work here Working within a wonderful, bustling atmosphere this role of Volunteering & Community Assistant, will support with harbour operations and the organisation of volunteering. Together with the Volunteering & Community Office and a team of volunteers you will provide a fantastic welcome to Mullion Cove. You’ll connect with people and help them connect with nature through outdoor activities while also raising awareness of our work for climate action.   What you'll be doing

As our Volunteering and Community Assistant, you'll be supporting the wider team by maintaining links with the local community. You’ll help to make this a flexible, positive and inclusive place for partners, community groups and volunteers to get involved.  This may mean supporting established community-led events.

You’ll support our work in developing new ways of working together and deepening relationships with existing and new audiences. You’ll also support our teams in offering a warm welcome and working with all kinds of people. 

You'll be based in Mullion Cove and may help at other sites across the Lizard & Penrose area. Working alongside our community partners, Mullion Cove Harbour Group, you'll help with day-to-day harbour operations while welcoming visitors, helping ensure that they have a safe and enjoyable visit.  You'll take support the Volunteering & Community Officer with the organisation of volunteers and may help with some practical maintenance tasks (full training and resources provided), you may also be asked to support with some administration tasks.

•The ability to multi-task and work in collaboration with other departments 

•The ability to work well in a team 

•Good IT skills (Microsoft Office)

•Willingness to work alongside volunteers and able to support volunteers to perform at their best
