Join a leading 4PL logistics company that provides comprehensive managed transport solutions across manufacturing, retail, and logistics sectors. We are seeking an experienced Logistics Broker to enhance our operations team within a dynamic subcontract haulage operation.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Resource and allocate loads daily to achieve the best possible margin.
- Ensure deliveries are scheduled on time and meet customer expectations.
- Actively seek additional work through various trading platforms.
- Engage with new and existing customers to drive repeat business and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Maintain regular contact with the haulier base to ensure a continuous supply.
- Monitor delivery performance and communicate any delays to customers promptly.
- Work towards achieving set targets in line with operational KPIs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date information within the Transport Management System (TMS).
- Participate in an on-call duty rota.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency in PC use, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to quickly learn new transport management systems.
- Extensive experience in negotiating transport rates with subcontractors.
- Comprehensive understanding of legislation related to drivers' hours, vehicles, and the Working Time Directive.
- In-depth knowledge of the transport and general haulage market across the UK.
- Excellent geographical knowledge of the UK.
- Outstanding telephone communication skills.
