Role Overview
As Ecommerce Merchandiser you will assist the Ecommerce Merchandising Lead in the effective management of websites and the App, including product launches, trade reporting and subsequent trading of the site, visually merchandising where appropriate and briefing in content and collections.
A key part of this role is to identify and implement opportunities to drive sales across all sales‑generating areas of all websites, analysing all aspects of the customer conversion funnel to maximize conversion.
Roles and Responsibilities
Trading
- Own agreed website departments and visually merchandise all relevant product categories, homepage categories and ongoing collection categories in line with the seasonal trading calendar and marketing plan, reviewing to make sure the business‑wide agreed VM strategy is in place.
- Review key lines and best‑selling products weekly to ensure opportunity is maximized and products have good visibility throughout the website and on digital marketing channels.
- Review slow‑selling products with Stock Merchandising and agree with the Ecommerce Merchandising Lead on appropriate actions to improve sales.
- Review and suggest changes for website/app product categorisation, range navigation and website filters.
- Maintain onsite search rules and search management including synonyms, zero‑result searches, stop words, compound words and redirects, identifying poor‑converting terms and areas to improve conversion.
- Have knowledge of sorting rules and product recommendation rules and any tests in place, and support the EML and Digital Optimisation Manager on implementing these as applicable.
Website content
- Select products for online content including homepages, inspirations, navigation and landing pages in line with the seasonal plan created with the Ecommerce Merchandising Lead.
- Brief website content to internal Creative & web development teams (design, copy, web developer), sign off with the Ecommerce Merchandising Lead.
- Attend seasonal range presentations and content planning meetings with Ecommerce, Creative and Buying departments, aligning with the Ecommerce Merchandising Lead to agree key product themes for website content.
- Demonstrate commitment to innovation; input ideas, content requirements to support the Ecommerce Merchandising strategy.
- Conduct and derive insights from competitor analysis, end‑of‑season reviews and convert into proposals for content changes or new initiatives where applicable.
- Brief website content testing requirements to Ecommerce Merchandising Lead and Digital Optimisation Manager as applicable to increase website content engagement.
- Select priority products, themes and category stories for UK and IRE territories to inform Digital CRM broadcast calendar and oversee the set‑up of associated product collections in line with broadcast dates, brief to Digital CRM team.
- Provide feedback on planned product features based on trading performance to the Digital CRM team to ensure CRM communications gain maximum impact.
- Maintain an awareness of results to inform future planning, agreeing with the Ecommerce Merchandising Lead and Digital CRM team.
Reporting
- Deliver associated trade reporting as agreed with Ecommerce Merchandising Lead, providing actionable insights to boost trade across all key websites and the App.
- Use analytics tools and associated systems to inform merchandising and trading recommendations made to the Ecommerce Merchandising Lead.
SEO
- Support the implementation of SEO content changes advised by the Digital Marketing Manager to support overall SEO strategy.
- Review proposed SEO changes with the Ecommerce Merchandising Lead to ensure alignment to category and products.
- Collaborate closely with web development team to ensure SEO best practices are properly followed throughout website content.
