Job Description
Streamline Search are working with a well established general road haulage company specialising in self off-load vehicles (HIABs and Moffetts). They are seeking a Transport planner to join their team and can offer routes for the right candidate to progress in the business.
Transport Planner – Job responsibilities
You will be responsible for the efficient planning, coordination, and management of haulage operations. This role ensures that deliveries are scheduled effectively, vehicles are fully utilised, and all transport activities comply with UK regulations.
- Plan and allocate loads to maximise vehicle efficiency and minimise empty mileage.
- Schedule and route HGVs to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.
- Liaise with customers and drivers to ensure smooth operations.
- Monitor live transport operations, resolving issues such as delays and breakdowns.
- Process delivery paperwork and invoices.
- Act as the primary contact for customers regarding delivery schedules and queries.
- Provide drivers with accurate job details and respond to issues in real time.
- Work closely with subcontractors, depots, and supply chain partners.
- Office-based with potential site visits and driver interactions.
- Fast-paced environment requiring flexibility and quick decision-making.
Transport Planner – Job Requirements
- Previous experience in haulage coordination, logistics, or transport planning.
- Available to be on call 1 week in 3 on a rotational basis for ad hoc out of hours queries.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced transport environment.
- Proficiency in transport management systems, route planning software, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills for liaising with customers, drivers, and suppliers.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Beneficial: Experience with HGV tracking and telematics systems.

Transport Planner – Remuneration
- Salary: £35,000 to £37,000
- Bonus Scheme – up to £4k based on company performance. OTE – £39,000 to £41,000
- Routes for career progression.

- Pension: 8% non-contributory.
- Mobile phone: provided.
- Hours: 8am-6pm Monday to Friday with 1 hour for lunch.
