A well respected and established supply chain and distribution business (one of the fastest growing transport companies in the UK) has an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Transport Manager who is looking to take that next important career step. You will join an expanding, dynamic business in Castle Donington that will develop and support your career aspirations within logistics. The position is based on Mon to Fri, 7am to 5pm basis. The role would suit a career-oriented individual who is passionate about logistics and is looking to develop into more senior opportunities as they development within the business.
Reporting directly into the Operations Director, the role would suit a competent and professional Transport Manager with real ambition to assist in the continued growth of this diverse business. It is important that you have a thorough understanding of the pressures and demands that this environment brings with it. A thorough understanding of transport operations is essential as is CPC. If you have experience with container logistics that would be an advantage.
There will be significant liaison and interaction with your supervisors and drivers, this will include all associated HR duties (training, disciplinary, appraisals etc). It is essential that you have clear communication skills, can build rapport with your team, but also manage behaviours appropriately. You will have knowledge of transport legalities and oversee the operational effectiveness to ensure the business runs as smoothly and as efficiently as possible by achieving optimum service levels whilst working to business critical KPI\’s.
This position is very much hands-on. It is important therefore that that you have a forward thinking, dynamic approach to leadership to ensure that your team is engaged and working as efficiently as possible and that the customer service experience in relation to service level agreements are maintained at every opportunity. Your approach will be open, honest, direct and straight forward. A strong character and certain gravitas will be required. Reliability, flexibility and integrity are values that are held in high esteem.
