MECHANICAL ESTIMATOR – LONDON COMPANY OVERVIEW: My client has been providing buildings support to local authorities, social landlords, NHS trusts and private sector clients for over 45 years. They have a proven track record of delivering successful mechanical, electrical and security services and solutions to commercial and domestic clients. JOB PURPOSE: My client is seeking a talented and experienced mechanical estimator to join their growing projects department. To work closely with the Bid Team and Contract Managers to provide accurate estimates for mechanical projects, draw up assessments of costs of products and services to provide to clients. To be able to understand specification documents, engineering drawings and be able to produce full and accurate take offs from mechanical and electrical drawings. Mechanical project range £50,000.00 – £5 million. Calculating costs for materials, transport, labour, equipment hire, permits, and other project-related expenses. Obtaining quotes and evaluating proposals for all predicted requirements from sub-contractors and suppliers, this will include Electrical and Builders work elements. Collating detailed price lists of everything required on each tender/project. Clarifying the client\’s needs and expectations. Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, breakdowns, and proposals. Assessing and adhering to all risk assessments and health and safety requirements. Keeping up to date with inflation and understand potential risks. Analyse potential risks and opportunities associated with the project and incorporate them into the estimate. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to estimates and project costs. Making visits to site to familiarise with the works and fully understand the scope of works and site-specific requirements of works being tendered. Stay up to date on industry standards and regulations Present bids to clients and answering their questions. Monitor the costs at different stages of the project to ensure the project stay within budget Assisting bid writer with specific site information to assist with quality submissions. Preparing and submitting quotations for smaller works up to £1 million for contractor\’s design and build style projects with limited information available. Liaise with the client to understand their needs and provide technical advice Desire to want to progress into renewable technologies. Ability to tender for multiple projects at any one time. Ability to produce value engineering solutions. Produce programme of works and site logistic plans at tender stage to demonstrate to clients we understand their requirements and to present our delivery methods.
