We are looking for Senior Healthcare Assistants to join our wonderful community team to contribute to the provision of high-quality holistic care for patients at home.

Who are we and what do we do? We are Garden House Hospice Care, the Hospice for North Hertfordshire. We are a multi award-winning hospice that puts the patient at the heart of everything we do. We are the pioneers of a nationally recognised and innovative frailty service, working with the Lister Hospital, which has seen us expanding our services and helping even more patients through symptom control, reablement or last days of life care.

What does a Senior Healthcare Assistant do? Your main responsibilities will be to assist with patients' personal care, helping to move, position and mobilise patients and observing their general condition in line with the care plan, reporting any changes as required. You will assist with patients' nutritional needs and update the patient record system.

What skills does a Senior Healthcare Assistant need? An NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or an equivalent qualification and previous experience in a health care setting. You should also be aware of the physical and emotional needs of patients suffering from a life-limiting illness and those of their relatives and carers and be kind and caring in your approach. Good teamwork and the ability to work a full range of shifts between the hours of 08.00-21.30 (including some weekends) on a rota basis. We offer generous enhancements for evenings and weekends.

You will need to hold a UK Driving Licence with access to a vehicle for business purposes - mileage expenses will be paid.

In return, we can offer you the support of a full multi-professional team, access to a range of staff support services and the opportunity to be involved in developing new initiatives. We reward our staff with autonomy in their role and a supportive culture that encourages a healthy work-life balance. Benefits include: 5% Employer pension contribution, 27 days annual leave in addition to Bank Holidays, free parking and on-site catering.

We have full time, part time and bank positions available with hours to suit.

Please read the full Job Description and Person Specification attached. All applications will be marked against the criteria specified therein.

For more information or for an informal discussion, please call Nicola Grimes on 07535 586951. Please note that we are actively reviewing applications and interviews will be held on a rolling basis. The ad may close early if a successful candidate is found. Whilst we'd love to get back to everyone who applies to our roles, we will only be in touch if your application is successful; if you have not heard from us within 28 days, please assume you have been unsuccessful on this occasion.
