Job AdvertCalling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Female Support Workers to join our incredible team in IpswichAs a Female Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs.This role requires you to be a DRIVER!From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their life.What we're looking for:

  • A genuine passion for supporting others.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities

Contract options:

  • Part-time: flexible contract between 30 –  35 hours

Shift times:All our services are 24hr care. We prepare the rotas at least 4 weeks in advance so you can still plan your personal and social life!

  • Days: Between 07:30am – 3:00pm  3:00am-9:30pm 
  • Must be able to pick up a minimum of 2 sleep in shifts per month where required. 
  • Alternative weekends

There is also a sleep-in available where you willreceive an enhanced flat rate payment of £62.45What does a Support Worker do?As a Support Worker you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will help to ensure the people we support live a more comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy life.  You will have excellent communication skills and be a naturally caring and patient personality.  Typical responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting people to live independently – budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals.
  • Relationship building – supporting the people we support to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.
  • Community & Social Inclusion – supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality. 
  • Personal care – helping people to get ready for the day.  This may include prompting the people we support to take their medication and assisting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom.  Not all Support Worker roles include high levels of personal care.
