This is an exciting opportunity to join a small flexible business, undertaking meaningful and rewarding work. We transcribe documents into alternative formats for people with disabilities (including Braille, Large Print and Audio). We are looking for transcribers to join our team. You will need a strong background in using computers, as you will need to learn new programs quickly. Full training will be available in transcription to the different formats and all specialist programs. Experienced transcribers in any of the formats would be very much welcome and a higher salary will be considered.

Requirements:
– Goodcomputing skills to include all Office programs
– Ability to extract and interpret non-text information such as graphics, layout and style
– Proven ability to learn computer skills/programs efficiently
– Good organisational skills and able to manage own workload
– Able to multitask and work efficiently
– Excellent attention to detail
– Confident dealing with customers & bespoke requests
– Clear voice for audio recording
– Commitment to honesty and reliability
– Ability to fit in with existing team values of respect, fairness and equality

Preferred but not essential (one or more of the following will strengthen your application):
– Previous knowledge/experience of transcription (were particularly interested in hearing from candidates who already have experience in any of our formats, and may consider a higher salary if appropriate)
– Maths or computing skills that can be applied to transcription (e.g. to learn Braille Maths, production of tactile diagrams, or Accessible PDFs)

Hours: 22.5 – 37.5 hours/week, core office hours (this is an office position, work-from-home will only be considered for experienced transcribers).
