Job Description

PERMANENT JOB: Social Worker/Senior Social Worker -Children With Disabilities Team

LOCATION: East London

The Children with Disabilities Service provides support to children and young people who have been diagnosed with a permanent, severe or profound disability, and their families. The Social workers and Assessment Workers will work with families to support them in ensuring that the children are happy, safe and making progress.

The Children with Disabilities Service provides advice and assistance to families with children who have severe, profound and complex disabilities. The team aims to ensure that these children and young people are:

  • safe and protected from neglect and abuse
  • secure within their families or in alternative family settings if they are children who are looked after. supported to achieve their full potential.
  • Supported in the move to adulthood and to transfer to Adult Services if appropriate
  • Parents, carers, professionals or members of the public can make a referral to the Redbridge Multi-agency Safeguarding Hub to request support for children and young people who require services from the Children with Disabilities Service.

Children and Families Assessments will be carried out by a Social Worker within 35 working days to assess the need for services and support.

The Children with Disabilities Teams comprise of Team Managers, Senior Practitioners, Social Workers, Autism Specialist Social Workers, Transition Workers and Assessment Workers.

SALARY SCALE: QSW £38,934 to £47,532 plus £5000 R&R

Senior £47532 to £53,607 plus £ 3,000.00 R&R

Job Overview:

CWD experience is not essential, but willingness to learn this area is. Experience of Child Protection, Children in Need and Court work is preferred. Car user is also preferred.

We are looking for someone with a stable work history and an ability to manage or learn all areas of children’s social care, e.g. Assessments, Transitions, Children Looked After, CP plans, CiN plans etc.

Qualified Social Worker Requirements

  • CSW/CQSW/DipSW/BA/MA in Social Work
  • Proven post qualifying experience in working with Childrens services
  • Current Social Work England registration
