Mechanical Fitter

Location: Biggleswade, SG18 8QB
Salary: £33.5K – £36.5K per annum, DOE + Overtime (paid at 1.5x for hours above 38, 2x on Sundays)
Contract: Full time, Permanent
Hours: 8am – 5pm Monday to Thursday, 8am – 2.30pm Friday (38 hours per week)

We are Endoline Machinery Ltd, a UK based manufacturer of end of line packaging machinery including case erectors, loaders, sealers and conveyors.

We specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of high quality end of line packaging machinery.

For over 40 years, Endoline\’s business has developed from designing and manufacturing small case taping machines to its position today as a leading UK manufacturer and worldwide supplier of end-of-line packaging machines and systems.

Due to growth, we are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter to join our skilled Production team from June 2025. You\’ll be sharing the responsibility for assembling high quality components and specialist sub-assemblies for our customers across a variety of industries, worldwide.

As our Mechanical Fitter you will be specifically responsible for:

Reading, interpreting and working accurately from detailed assembly and pneumatic drawings
Mechanically and pneumatically assembling our range of machinery and subsequent spares orders to a high standard
Running field wiring in advance of electrical fitters
Conducting routine inspections to assess the functionality and condition of returned machinery
Identifying mechanical faults and performing the necessary repairs or replacements
Adhering to safety protocols and industry regulations to maintain a safe working environment
Running tests on equipment to ensure proper operation after repairs or maintenance
Working to set time frames and build schedules

In order to be successful in this role you must have / be:

Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter – this is essential
Proven experience in building bespoke or special purpose machinery
Electrical fitting / machine wiring skills and experience of pneumatics are preferable
Good problem-solving skills
Continuous improvement mindset
Customer focus and desire to meet the highest levels of quality
Good written and verbal communication skills
Able to work to deadlines to meet customer needs
Collaborative mindset and the ability to thrive in a dynamic team environment
H&S conscious
Strong IT skills – Word, Excel, Outlook preferable

This role is based on-site at our factory in Biggleswade.

We supply all of our Mechanical Fitters with any specialist equipment required to carry out the role but do expect our Mechanical Fitters to provide their own hand tool whenever possible.

We supply uniform and provide allowance for safety shoes and work trousers.
