This opportunity sits within the Governance Office of a large Public Sector Regulatory Agency, which is a small unit dedicated to managing and controlling the agency efficiently. It supports the Board, Executive, expert, and independent committees, ensuring high standards in corporate governance, risk, and assurance. Additionally, it leads the agency’s sponsorship relationships with government departments.

Your new role

This role involves leading the management of the Agency’s committees. Responsibilities include scheduling and supporting around ten committees, liaising with operational groups to ensure effective meetings, and providing high-quality secretariat and administrative support. The role also involves advising on conflicts of interest, drafting minutes, and ensuring timely delivery of meeting papers. Building strong relationships with committee members, supporting new member appointments, and contributing to annual reports are key tasks. Additionally, the role includes drafting responses to Parliamentary Questions and other correspondence, monitoring team performance, and mentoring staff to develop creative solutions to challenges.

What you’ll need to succeed

You must be able to communicate confidently with stakeholders, ensuring a clear understanding of objectives, managing conflict, and addressing non-inclusive behaviour. You will have a solid understanding of UK and EU medicine regulations, be able to write an excellent set of minutes and work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, possessing excellent IT skills. You must be able to build trust and long-lasting relationships, prioritise customer needs, plan effectively to maximise productivity, and approach problems positively to find suitable solutions. You will be proactive in identifying skill gaps for yourself and your team, and pursue personal development with your Line Manager.

This is a 3-month role with the potential to go for 6-months and offers a day rate which would be the annual equivalent of £34,800. They offer excellent hybrid working arrangements, usually being in the office 1-2 times a week. With 35 days of annual leave, and a 37-hour working week, this is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of a regulated environment.
