Job Role: Childcare Officer

Location: Reading RG2

Employment Hours: Full time – 3 month contract

Rate of Pay: £13 per hour

We are a busy childcare agency serving Berkshire and the surrounding counties. We have a number of new roles and assignments supporting children and young people and we are looking for staff to join our team.

We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate, and skilled Childcare Officersto join our team and support young people who have learning disabilities.

As a Childcare Officer, you will play a key role in providing a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for children and young people. You will work as part of a team to deliver high-quality care, support their emotional, physical, and empower them to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day care and support to children and young people in a residential care setting.
  • Ensure the emotional and physical needs of the young people are met.
  • Implement individual care plans in collaboration with the existing staff team and other professional.
  • Promote and support the social, and recreational development of young people.
  • Help young people develop life skills, including independence, self-care, and decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with policies and procedures.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Essential:

    • Experience in working with children and young people, ideally in a residential or childcare setting.
    • Understanding of child development, safeguarding, and child protection policies.
    • Ability to build strong, positive relationships with young people.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
    • A commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of young people.
  • Desirable:

    • Level 3 Diploma in Childcare (or equivalent).
    • Knowledge of relevant legislation and safeguarding practices.
    • Previous experience of working in a residential care setting.
