Are you passionate about governance and looking to take the next step in your career? We are looking for a skilled and motivated Governance Officer to join our Governance team. This key role will support our Society\’s Board, executive, and senior management in navigating a range of legal, secretariat, and ESG matters. Key Responsibilities:
As a Governance Officer, you\’ll work closely with the Head of Legal and Society Secretary to:
Provide comprehensive governance support to the Board, Executive Committee, and sub-committees, ensuring the highest standards of governance and effective decision-making processes.
Take the lead in preparing and organising committee agendas, meeting papers, and distributing relevant documentation.
Attend meetings and produce clear, concise minutes to ensure decisions are well-documented and effectively implemented.
Offer expert guidance on legal, regulatory, and organisational frameworks, providing advice on procedural matters related to Board operations and executive management committees.
Play a key role in supporting departmental projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Who We\’re Looking For:
This role is perfect for someone who has:
Experience in corporate governance and supporting senior/Board-level executives.
A strong background in executive-level support and administration.
Experience working in financial services.
Exceptional writing skills with the ability to create clear and concise reports and briefings for various audiences.
A good understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a Chief Executive Officer, Chair, and Non-Executive Directors in an organisation.
A keen interest in governance, compliance, and the drive to stay up-to-date with the latest developments.
Experience in preparing agendas, meeting papers, and taking accurate minutes at Board or committee level.
A proven ability to handle confidential data and sensitive commercial information.
Legal and/or governance qualifications, or a strong desire to pursue them.

Salary of up to £45,000 per annum (FTE) depending on experience
