Job Description

CAD Design Engineer Permanent Full-TimeSalary – Circa £42,000 DOE Location – In office, HampshireWe are supporting a pioneering organisation on a mission to make zero-carbon heat the norm. Their cutting-edge technology stores clean energy, enabling renewable electricity to provide industrial heat on demand. With industrial heating responsible for nearly half of the world's energy use, this company plays a critical role in the global energy transition.They are now seeking a CAD Design Engineer to support the development of their innovative thermal storage product, designed to replace fossil fuel boil55ers in industrial settings. This is an exciting opportunity to join a mission-driven, fast-paced team, applying your engineering expertise to refine designs for manufacturability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.Responsibilities, but are not limited to

  • Develop 3D models for components, assemblies, and systems using SolidWorks, incorporating PDM and other change processes
  • Produce industry-standard technical drawings, including welding codes and BOMs (Bills of Materials)
  • Design for Manufacture (DfM): Ensure designs are optimised for scalability, cost efficiency, and high-quality production
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers to develop practical solutions
  • Contribute to design reviews, testing, and field feedback to improve both prototype and production stages

Experiences required

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar CAD software) for 3D modelling and technical drawings with version control (e.g. Inventor, Solid Edge, Creo, CATIA, Fusion 360, Onshape, Siemens NX, Pro/ENGINEER)
  • Experience with mechanical & electrical design, ideally within a relevant industry
  • Expertise in weldments and fabrication within CAD
  • Strong understanding of Design for Manufacture (DfM), including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
  • Experience with PDM SolidWorks or other data management suites is advantageous (e.g. Autodesk Vault, Windchill, Teamcenter, ENOVIA)
  • Knowledge of industrial heating or thermal storage technologies is advantageous
