Specialising in recruitment for the Roadside & Recovery industry and over 25 years experience working with this organisation we can give you a full understanding of how rewarding being a Recovery Driver / Patrol is and how you can combine your love of driving with your love of helping people. Being a Recovery Driver / Patrol is not a 9 to 5 job, you'll need to be prepared to work shifts on a rota basis but it is interesting and different and no two days are the same. There are no multi-drops or waiting on loading bays just plenty of different breakdown scenarios and people to help. Interested?? Read on… Job Title: HGV Recovery Driver / Patrol – Nights Available Locations: Addlestone, Surrey Start Date: April or May 2025 Job Status: Temp-to-Perm; 6 months temporary with view to being offered a permanent job after successful probation period. Description: Working as a Recovery Driver is highly-rewarding as you are genuinely helping people in their time of need. It's is interesting and no two days are the same so you'll never get bored! Working for this prestigious company you will be required to attend broken-down Light Vehicles (cars and vans) by the roadside, load onto Recovery Truck and take to designated drop-off point i.e. garage or home address. These guys are the best in the business so you'll receive excellent, paid training both online and at their state of the art training centre in the West Midlands. Licence: HGV Class 2 (LGVC) licence or higher with a maximum of 6 points on licence for minor endorsements and no outstanding DD, DR or CD penalties. Digi-Tacho & DCPC: Required on starting Experience: No experience is required as full training will be given. They will consider freshly passed drivers and ex-military personnel. People Skills: All applicants must have superb customer care skills and be able to communicate effectively with the general public in stressful and difficult situations. There is never a “good time to break down” and people can be upset and worried, especially being by the side of the road. Applicants must be prepared to work in all weather conditions, be self-motivated and able to work on own initiative. Training: Paid for Induction Training Programme which includes residential training in the West Midlands (accommodation, travel and food expenses paid) Shift Pattern: Perm Nights on a 28 day repeating pattern with includes 2 weekends working and 2 weekend off within every four week period. Mixed shift pattern; start times from 18:00 to 21:30. Rostered for 9 hours with flex-period up to 12 hours per shift. Average 40 hours per week + Overtime (End of shift and additional days available) Hourly Pay Rates up to 12-Weeks (inclusive of flat rate overtime) based on average 42.5 hour week: HGV2: £16.70 per hour (OTE: £37,000 per year) HGV1: £18.36 per hour (OTE: £40,500 per year) Overtime Rate after 12-weeks worked (paid over 8 hours per shift) based on average 42.5 hour week: HGV2: £20.90 Overtime Rate per hour (OTE: £38,000 per year) HGV1: £22.95 Overtime Rate per hour (OTE: £41,200 per year) Note: Drivers can earn up to £46,000 – £48,000 depending upon hours worked. Perm Salary Details: When employed permanently the annual salary is dependent upon your driving licence (as above) and hours worked. The perm employee benefits package includes bonuses, incentives, a generous pension and employee rewards scheme. Vetting: They will require full vetting including referencing, DBS check and a credit check. If you have any unspent criminal convictions or cautions in the UK or abroad you MUST declare them to us at the time of applying.
