Job Description
The opportunity
Do you enjoy sharing your specialist knowledge of clay and ceramics with enthusiastic students? This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled individual with experience of large and small-scale hand building, pottery, glazing, moldmaking, and slipcasting, to join us at UAL.
Our ceramics resource is a place where almost anything is possible in clay. Our Art and Design students learn ceramics to expand on their research and coursework, and as a Specialist Technician, you will help to develop their skills in this subject area.
You will provide professional expertise, guidance and advice to contribute to the delivery and development of learning activities and knowledge exchange within the College.
In addition to this, you will assist with the smooth and safe running of the workshop, including daily oxidation and gas reduction firings and performing routine kiln maintenance. The workshop is situated between woodwork, metalwork, and casting resources, so you will be working with lots of other skilled colleagues nearby.
This is your chance to utilise and develop your specialist skills and expertise, whilst furthering your career within a leading arts institution.
About you
We are looking for a creative individual with a BA in either Design or Fine Art and some formal training or qualification in ceramics.
