Job Description
Laboratory Assistant (Cell Testing Lab) Li-ion Battery Cell (Applied Research)
Oxford
Who we are…
Agratas is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons. We will design, develop and manufacture high-quality, high-performance, sustainable batteries for the mobility and energy sectors. We are a scale-up business with a start-up mentality and the backing of a well-established parent company. The UK business headquarters is in the Midlands and we are currently building a battery manufacturing facility in Bridgwater, Somerset and looking to compliment, scale and grow our R&D facility in Abingdon with the brightest minds from within the battery sector.
What you’ll do…
You will support the testing and evaluation of Li-ion battery cells, conducting performance and reliability tests to assist in the development of next-generation battery technologies. This role involves running electrochemical tests, managing test equipment, and ensuring the accuracy of test results to support R&D efforts in cell development.
- Conduct charge-discharge cycling, impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and other electrochemical tests to evaluate the performance and durability of Li-ion battery cells.
- Set up, calibrate, and maintain testing equipment (e.g., battery testers, environmental chambers) to ensure optimal operation during experiments.
- Accurately record test results, monitor performance, and assist with data analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement in battery cell performance.
- Maintain detailed records of testing procedures, results, and observations. Assist in preparing reports and presentations for the research team.
- Ensure safe operation of equipment and adherence to lab safety protocols. Maintain a clean and organised testing environment.
What you’ll bring…
- Proficient in conducting electrochemical tests on Li-ion battery cells, including charge-discharge cycling, CV, and EIS.
- Familiarity with battery testing equipment (e.g., battery testers, cycling stations, environmental chambers).
- Strong ability to record, interpret, and manage test data accurately.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety standards, with the ability to follow safety protocols for equipment operation and chemical handling.
- Ability to work closely with R&D teams, providing testing support for battery cell development.
What you’ll get…
As a new company, our reward scheme is constantly evolving. We continue to review the market to deliver a competitive benefits package, which currently includes private healthcare, car allowance, company bonus, enhanced parental leave policy and a cash allowance to boost your benefits. We are a flexible business that is committed to promoting work-life balance, partnering with Yulife to provide our team members with total wellbeing support.
You’ll work in a rapidly scaling-up environment as a subsidiary of the multinational corporation, Tata Sons, to help build the UK’s biggest battery manufacturing facility and make your mark in a new organisation.
