Payroll Lead Glasgow Hybrid Working

WA are delighted to be partnering exclusively with a growing organisation based in central Glasgow.

The role of the Payroll Lead will provide leadership, direction and effective management of the Payroll function and all associated monthly and annual processes.

To lead and developing the service, ensuring that continuous service improvement and customer focus are integral to the work to ensuring all statutory responsibilities and objectives are met. Provide support for systems and process development to ensure process efficiencies are maximised within the payroll system.

The key function of the post is to process salaries, expenses, overtime, sickness, tax codes, pension and various other deductions in accordance with statutory requirements to ensure all rules are applied correctly and in a uniform manner.

Key Responsibilities are but not limited to :

  • Payroll Service payrolls, HMRC reporting including all monthly and annual payroll processes via the payroll provider
  • Ensure the accuracy of payroll data through robust checking process and through regular data integrity checks
  • Ensure the correct application terms and conditions in respect of pay and entitlements
  • Ensure that all payroll queries from employees and managers are dealt with in a responsive manner
  • Ensuring performance meets required standards
  • Work with other system stakeholders to ensure that the Payroll System is kept up to date through regular system upgrades and appropriate testing
  • Ensure that an excellent responsive, proactive and inclusive approach is delivered
  • Carry out all duties with due regard to the provisions of relevant regulations and legislation, data protection legislation, diversity and customer services

Experience Sought :

  • Relevant degree level qualification (or equivalent) and membership of a professional organisation CIPP
  • Knowledge of day to-day payroll activities
  • Be able to analyse complex and wide-ranging information and develop strategies and plans
  • Be able to articulate and communicate effectively
  • Be capable of exercising initiative and applying this to finding and implementing solutions to a range of situations and problems
  • Be self-disciplined and able to work to strict deadlines
  • Have an excellent understanding of financial issues affecting payroll / pension
  • Have an excellent understanding of relevant payroll / pension legislation
  • Have experience of driving innovation in payroll processes
