An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Allied Health Professionals Suffolk CIC as Interim Finance Director, for a minimum period of one year commencing at the beginning of January 2025.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual with a strategic focus to work with our Board, overseeing the Finance department, reporting to the CEO.

We are in the process of redefining our strategy and in the coming year we plan to grow and diversify our service lines and are looking for an interim director to work with us to achieve this. This role isn’t your typical number-crunching position; it’s about getting involved in the day-to-day operations, challenging the status quo and driving the business forward., § Developing and implementing our financial and investment strategy to ensure the ongoing financial stability of the organisation through our business activities;

§ Managing investment portfolio, including acquisition and disposal of property;

§ Supporting the development of a growth strategy with commercial assessment/ profitability analysis

§ Work in partnership with colleagues to develop financial models for novel and existing service lines;

  • Manage the financial planning and budgeting processes including calculation and maintenance of NHS Agenda for Change payroll forecasts and payroll, prepare month-end accounts, forecasts , and financial audits, ensuring timely, accurate reporting and efficient cash flow management. Preparation and presentation of papers for subcommittee, Board and other internal meetings;

  • Corresponding with external accountants as necessary and organising annual year end accounts preparation for filing with Companies House along with Corporation Tax returns.

  • Review Corporation Tax Return/year end accounts as required and clear any queries;

  • Monthly updating of Fixed Asset register and depreciation calculations;

  • Liaising with insurance brokers and dealing with insurance renewals; and

  • Maintenance of Companies House filings.

  • Experience of the optimisation and continual improvement of internal financial administrative processes

  • Lead on financial planning for asset refresh and renewal to include estates and ICT assets.

Leadership and Team management

  • Lead and take overall responsibility for the small finance team, providing direction and fostering a high-performance culture.

  • Oversee recruitment approval and resource planning for the company to align with strategic goals and financial forecasts / budgets.

  • Supporting budget holders to understand the financial imperatives of the company and hold them to account for under/over spending.

Commercial

§ Developing and maintaining supplier relationships – specifically NHS Property Services, to ensure productive and proactive transactions.

§ Developing and maintaining tenant / customer relationships to protect rental incomes and ensure good return on property investment.

Business Partnering

§ Networking with other FDs and relevant stakeholders and sharing, learning and implementing best practice,

§ Networking with customers and commissioners to maintain high quality relationships to protect income streams.

  • Qualified ACA, ACCA or equivalent with post-qualification experience;

  • Experience of development and diversification, working with teams to develop bids for new business;

  • Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills, particularly pivot tables and data analysis/presentation techniques;

  • Previous working knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts; and

  • Prior knowledge of VAT partial exemption calculations

Desirable

§ Relevant NHS experience; and

  • Previous knowledge of Sage 50 Payroll.
