Applied Inspection Ltd have an exciting opportunity for an NDT Level 3 to join our Technical Department as Technical Manager. The role is Full Time, based from either our Chesterfield or Burton-on-Trent office. Travel to our other branches as well as customer sites will be required in which car allowance and mileage is provided.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in NDT with knowledge of all NDT methods. They shall be qualified to PCN and/or ASNT Level 3 in numerous NDT methods. They will have a passion for NDT and a willingness to develop future NDT Technicians. They will need to be capable of and responsible for establishing procedures, determining the examination method and technique to be used and capable of evaluating results in terms of existing codes, standards and specifications.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with and report to the Managing Director as necessary to ensure the company’s technical operations are carried out efficiently to the requirements of the Customer, Third Party Accreditation and the company business system.
  • Liaise with the Management Team as necessary.
  • Responsible for production and approval of NDT procedures and techniques.
  • Manage designated consultant work and projects in accordance with relevant requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring that customers technical requirements are met.
  • Perform technical surveillance on NDT Technicians.
  • Maintain specialist equipment.
  • Assist the other Managers in technical review and tender of customer enquires and contracts.
  • Ensure that the company complies with the technical requirements of all third party accreditation for which the company business system is accredited.
  • Undertake external technical audits.
  • Authorisation of technical reports.
  • Ensure technicians are adequately trained and approved in accordance with international requirements and the company training manual.
  • Achieve the Qualifications, Training and Experience required of the Technical Manager
  • Reviewing of standards and specification.
  • Perform in-house and external NDT Training.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • NDT L3 in 4 x methods, one of these must be RT or UT
  • Minimum 10 x years experience in NDT

Additionally, the candidate will require sufficient practical background in materials, fabrication, welding and product technology. They shall have extensive knowledge of NDT methods, specifications, standards and codes. Experience in customer relations and effective communication skills are essential attributes.

Hours – Mon – Fri – 8.00-16.30 (15.30 on Friday)
