Description
The Head of Corporate Development is a critical role for Field. The focus will be on working on the development and execution of the company’s financing plan, including equity and debt financing, as well as M&A sourcing and execution. This will enable the company’s growth over the next few years.
It will initially focus on Field’s aggressive fundraising plans, managing ongoing relationships with the investor community, and building a strong pipeline of high-quality long-term investors for future equity and debt fundraises.
Alongside fundraising responsibilities, this role will also work closely with the Strategy team to execute on identified M&A opportunities to support our growth, including a review and potential financing for our existing projects, and recycling existing assets to optimize returns on capital.
Key Responsibilities
This is a broad and varied role with the opportunity to have a massive impact. Key responsibilities include:
- Financing Strategy
- Support the creation and updates to the company’s Financing Strategy.
- Evaluate different sources of capital, identifying the optimum Financing Strategy across equity, mezzanine, senior debt, and other innovative approaches.
- Provide updates on current financing opportunities and comparable deals, which will help shape our strategy.
- Equity & Debt Financing
- Assessment of equity financing options, including group level & asset level financing.
- Assessment of optimal debt financing, primarily to finance the construction of our operational assets, including project finance and group level financing.
- Responsible for identifying & selecting financial advisors to support financing processes.
- Lead the delivery of equity & debt financing deals.
- M&A
- Evaluate potential M&A and JV opportunities in our key markets.
- Provide an update on relevant deals, noting their relevance for Field.
- Responsible for the execution of M&A transactions, including commercial negotiations, legal drafting, and coordination of external due diligence.
- Deal Execution
- Oversee the end-to-end management of equity and debt-financing and M&A transactions, ensuring timely and successful completion.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to coordinate various aspects of transactions.
- Investor Relations
- Responsibility for engagement and reporting with existing investors.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- You’re curious and knowledgeable about the energy storage industry.
- Strong and demonstrable experience in either a global investment bank, infrastructure fund, PE growth fund, corporate finance boutique, or in-house corporate development team.
- Experience managing large fundraises (equity and debt).
- Experience managing multiple transactions (from opportunity evaluation through due diligence, deal negotiation, execution, and final integration strategy).
- Team management experience in a Corporate Development role or similar, running an initial team of 2 people.
